In 1988 Tom Friedrichs graduated with an Art degree from Messiah College (now University) and began his career as a Graphic Designer then Art Director. But having been impacted by the ministry of YFC as a High schooler one thing led to another and he entered full-time ministry in 1991 as Executive Director of Central Connecticut Youth for Christ. In 1996 He entered Pastoral ministry as Youth Pastor and then Pastor of Outreach and Discipleship at a large Church in Burlington VT. From 2005 until 2017 He served as a Lead Pastor in Central Vermont. During a stint pastoring two Churches and managing a merger of the two he experienced near burnout and went on sabbatical. Upon returning from sabbatical God had instilled in Tom and his (super amazing supportive) wife Karen a vision of someday investing in other Pastors through a retreat space that would use Karen's spiritual gift of hospitality and  their mentoring and coaching. While we considered this our "retirement ministry" God pushed up our time table and orchestrated some amazing circumstances that allowed us to leave the Church we served from 2017 to 2020 and, in faith, step out and establish Alongside Ministries (www.alongsideministries.org) and Broom Tree Landing. Tom and Karen are passionate about coming alongside Christian Leaders to facilitate health and effectiveness for the long haul. We look forward to serving you!
